Anna Louisa Schonken - born 26 April 2005

Anna means "gracious" and as she was born on a Tuesday, they say Tuesday's child is full of grace. Louisa is Melanie's grandmother's name, which we like as a tie into her side of the family.

Here she is, the latest addition to the Schonken family. She (who is yet to be named) arrived at 22:33 on 26 April (just before Mel's birthday on the 27 April). She weighed 3,34 kg (that is 7 pounds 6 ounces). Mel and baby are both very well and I am sure Mel will post a full report in a couple of days. In the meantime here are some photos...

22 April - Due Date

Well we have officially reached full term with the second baby. The NHS has booked Mel in for an induction on the 2 May if nothing happens by then. So in the next ten days we will have another baby. Here is a picture of Mel taken last evening...

We will try to take a picture just before she goes into labour. Have fun!

Fed up with paying £40 per kg

I have got to that stage of my UK life where I am fed up with paying £40 per kg for Biltong. So I resolved to make some of my own. I bought some meat (still not the cheapest thing in the UK), soaked the strips in vinegar and added some spices. I constructed a drying box from cardboard and an old lamp and here is the evidence...

I will let you know what it tastes like!
